In Istanbul, there are four major places to stay.
Old Town is suggested for sightseeing, while Beyoglu-Taksim district for easy access to dining, shopping,
entertainment. Deluxe hotels are located around Besiktas and Taksim. And Atakoy, Yesilkoy area for the
airport hotels.
You visit Bursa and Edirne by day trips from Istanbul.
You can visit Canakkale (Troy, Gelibolu) as well but the trip may be very tiring as it takes about 5 hours drive by car
from Istanbul.
Bursa and Canakkale makes good one day stops for an itinerary covering major sights of Turkey.
Try Cagaloglu or Galatasaray Turkish bath if you would like to try one.
A visit to Ortakoy will reveal what Turkish bar scene look like.
Every other week on Sundays, there is Whirling Dervishes show in Mevlevihane, near Tunel.
