Why Area Choice Matters for Ephesus

Ephesus is about 3 km from Selçuk and roughly 20 km from Kuşadası. If seeing the ruins early — before the heat and the tour buses — matters to you, stay in Selçuk and walk or take a two-minute taxi to the gate. If you want a beach holiday with Ephesus as a day trip, base yourself in Kuşadası (Kusadasi). Şirince and Pamucak suit travellers who want something quieter.

Selçuk Hotels

Selçuk is a friendly small town with the Ephesus Museum, the Basilica of St. John and the Temple of Artemis all within walking distance. Hotels range from pensions to boutique garden stays; staying here lets you reach the ruins at opening time, which transforms the experience. See Selcuk Travel Guide for the town itself.

Şirince Hotels

In the hills above Selçuk, Şirince is a restored Greek village of stone houses, wine shops and cafés. Boutique hotels and guesthouses make it a romantic, quieter alternative, about 20 minutes from the ruins.

Kuşadası Hotels

Kuşadası is a full resort: a long seafront, beach clubs, nightlife and the cruise-ship port. It has the widest choice of large hotels and all-inclusive resorts, and Ephesus is an easy half-day trip from here.

Pamucak Beach Hotels

Pamucak is the long sandy beach just north of Ephesus, with a handful of resort hotels. It is the closest thing to a beach stay within a few minutes of the ruins.
