Faralya is plain beautiful. The road from Ölüdeniz that goes all the way through Faralya district offers some of the most incredible views along the coast, especially when it goes over Butterfly Valley. That road curls around the cliffs and ends at the hill above Kabak Cove, the small cove which has gained popularity in recent years especially among Turkish young professionals along with international trekking communities.
Faralya district is also part of the Lycian Way and is a strip of about 40 km starting to the south of Ölüdeniz. The conventional accommodations like hotels and guest houses are along the cliffs, so if you stay at any of them you will have to walk down about 1 or 2 km which almost takes half an hour on foot, and the same after the beach. So unless you are fit and willing, staying in one of the hotels above the cliff will not be considered as a beach vacation.
On the other hand, the region offers many sights and villages. If you have rented a car, you can go to Ölüdeniz Belcekiz Beach about 15 minutes down the road. Or you can do daily treks in the area and the beach could be a part of it.
If you want a beach vacation in the area, then you would have to trade comfort for a stay down below, near the beach, either in Butterfly Valley or Kabak in bungalows, huts or tents at a campsite. Then of course you would stay in the valleys for a while as you would have to trek up to go to other places, and that would be a daunting task to do every day.
Public transportation to the city center of Fethiye from Faralya is not frequent, so inquire about your return trip schedule before leaving Fethiye.
Accommodation options in Faralya fall into two categories:
From Fethiye, take the dolmus (minibus) toward Ölüdeniz, then continue toward Faralya. Service is limited — check the return schedule before you go. A rental car is the most convenient option. The road is paved but winding; drive carefully, especially near the cliff edges.
