Çamlıca Hill is the highest point of Istanbul and a good vista point. You might have noticed TV towers at the top of the hill by looking out from Galata Tower or from boats when crossing the Bosphorus. Çamlıca Hill is about 4 kilometers from Üsküdar. There are buses that go to Çamlıca, but you should ask as there are two Çamlıcas — you should go to Büyük Çamlıca (Big Çamlıca).
There is a Turing tea garden and restaurant which was constructed by the late Çelik Gülersoy, who was interested in transforming neglected places into leisure areas. Another important Turing cafe/restaurant is in Fenerbahçe. Çamlıca Hill is only interesting for its spectacular views across Istanbul across the Bosphorus.
Büyük Çamlıca Mosque (Camii), one of Turkey's largest mosques, opened in 2019 and dominates the hilltop with its striking architecture. The nearby Çamlıca Tower, a 369-meter (1,210 ft) communications tower, opened in 2021 and features an observation deck and restaurant with panoramic 360-degree views of the city.
Getting there: Take a bus from Üsküdar (ask for Büyük Çamlıca). Alternatively, take a taxi from Üsküdar (about 10-15 minutes).
Best time to visit: Sunset offers the most dramatic views. The city lights up as darkness falls.
What to bring: Camera, jacket (it can be windy at the top), and cash for tea and snacks.
