Tips for Choosing the Right Boat — Blue Cruise Turkey

Tips for Choosing the Right Boat

Gulets are traditional boats of southwest Turkey. In general, gulets vary in length between 14 and 35 metres (52–110 feet), hence varying passenger capacity. The cabins are usually for two (double beds, not twin beds). All of the cabins have private WC and shower.

The cabins of the crew are completely separated from those of the passengers. The gulets offer enough space to the passengers in the cabins, in the aisles and on the deck.

The crew consists of a captain, a cook and one or two deckhands who are all experienced in their work. Although the gulets are essentially motor yachts, it is possible to sail certain distances during a Blue Cruise.

You can shape your cruise itinerary as you wish before booking. Usually the daily duration of cruising is not longer than 3–4 hours, and the rest of the day can be spent in a gorgeous cove enjoying the sun and the sea. Sunbathing on the deck, swimming in clear waters, snorkeling, windsurfing, waterskiing or just fishing.

Or anchoring in a cove and trekking in the wild nature, visiting a nearby village and coming closer to local people and their traditions, or visiting an ancient ruin. Here, in the midst of the idyll, you can feel the touch of nature and history.

Choosing the Right Boat

We feature many yachts with different sizes and facilities. The terms economy, standard, superior and deluxe are used to indicate the relative degree of comfort and aesthetics the boats have.

Ingredients of a Good Cruise

A good captain: Unlike cruise lines, the captain is very important on these boats where there are only a few people.

A good boat: A boat with spacious cabins and a well-tuned engine. Sailing is available on some boats while on others sails are for decorative purposes.

A good cook: The quality and the quantity of food is important in making the cruise a wonderful one.

Many different sizes of gulets and boats, from standard to deluxe, are available for chartering.
