Some of the most prominent and best preserved classical cities in the world as well as a wonderful coastline with a unique scenery can be found in this region. Ephesus, Pergamon, and Troy are among the most important ancient ruins, shedding light to the 5000 years old civilizations.

The coast offers not only pristine beaches surrounded by olive trees, but thousands of scenic small coves. A cruise along the Southern coast, around Bodrum and Marmaris reveals the beauty of the shore as well as some of the ancient ruins, which were harbour towns thousands of years ago.

Insider Tip: The Aegean coast is best explored by rental car. The D400 highway from Izmir to Antalya is one of the most scenic coastal drives in the world. Allow at least 5-7 days to explore the highlights: Ephesus, Pamukkale, Bodrum, Marmaris, and Fethiye.
