What Makes Kemer Unique

Kemer is a 30 km coastal strip on Turkey's Turquoise Coast where the pine-covered Taurus Mountains meet the Mediterranean Sea. Mountains rise straight from the sea, pine forests stretch down to pebble beaches, and the marina is lined with restaurants, bars, and excursion boats. Behind the modern resort facade lies a region rich in ancient history: the eternal flames of Chimaera, the ruins of Phaselis and Olympos, and the protected beaches where caretta caretta turtles nest.

Built as a planned resort in the 1980s, it has grown into one of Antalya's most popular holiday destinations while maintaining a more relaxed atmosphere than its western neighbor. Kemer lies to the West of Antalya and has a different vibe than the resort towns to the East of Antalya like Belek, Side, Alanya and others. The scenery is different but also the atmosphere is more Aegean-like comparatively.

Things to Do in Kemer

Boat Trips: A full-day boat trip along the Kemer coastline is a must. Boats stop for swimming in secluded coves, visit the ancient city of Phaselis, and serve lunch on board. Departures from Kemer Marina daily.

Ancient Sites: Phaselis, an ancient Lycian city with three harbors, set among pine trees right on the beach. Olympos, sprawling ruins in a river valley, with a beach that is a protected turtle nesting site. Chimaera (Yanartaş), natural rock vents that have been burning for millennia, best visited at sunset.

Beaches: Kemer has pebble beaches along the town center. For sand, head to Göynük, Tekirova, or Çıralı. The water is clear and clean everywhere along the coast.

Outdoor Adventures: Hiking in the Taurus Mountains, jeep safaris, paragliding, and scuba diving are all available through tour operators near the marina.

Where to Stay in Kemer

Kemer Center offers the most nightlife and dining options. Göynük has family-friendly resort hotels with sandy beaches. Tekirova is quieter with luxury hotels and proximity to Phaselis. Çamyuva sits at the foot of the mountains with a more local feel. Browse all Kemer hotels →

Getting to Kemer

Kemer is 40 km southwest of Antalya Airport (AYT), about a 40-minute drive. Antalya's old town (Kaleiçi) is 45 minutes away by car. Regular buses and dolmuş (minibuses) run from the Antalya city center and bus station to Kemer throughout the day. Most hotels can arrange airport transfers for around €30-40 one way.
